Things I have learned about Thanksgiving, Shopping and NaNoWriMo.

Things I have learned in the last two days.

First: I am SOOO glad I finished my Novel for NaNoWriMo before Thanksgiving!

Second: If you are not finished with your NaNoNovel before Thanksgiving, you will most likely have to chose between writing and shopping. It is incredibly hard to do both. I had planned to add several thousand words to my novel by now but shopping has made that really difficult. (and yes…the photo above is a lot more true to what these two shopping days mean for consumers)

I don’t know if your town has started opening up “Black Friday” shopping on Thanksgiving day or not but if they have, I feel you if you are trying to do family stuff AND shop. It is a MADHOUSE! And I live in a relatively small city.

The same is true of shopping on the day after Thanksgiving. Even with a head start, it’s a crazy prospect and only the most serious shoppers will have much luck.

The one thing I am VERY thankful for is that, because my city is rather small, we don’t typically have those crazy stories about people getting into fist-fights over toys or knock-down, drag-out fights over the last iPad. But we have plenty of rude shoppers and angry workers so it’s still a very interesting experience.

The best advice I can give you is this: Remember what Thanksgiving and Christmas are all about!

Share God’s love with everyone you meet this holiday season!

And GOD BLESS YOU!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Merry Christmas!
