The phrase “like father . . . like son” is indeed a popular one.
And while my son does take after me in the areas of imagination and interests, it is my daughter who is following in my footsteps as an author (my son is more interested in making movies . . . and yes, I’ve told him he will need to learn how to write a screenplay. Thus far, he’s not heeded that advice yet).
So, in this instance, it’s “like mother . . . like daughter”.
